ABSTRACT

Collectif Coin

« Abstract » unfolds a monumental matrix of 81 luminous pixels rising up to five meters high. As light pulses, sound vibrations and movements travel through the structure, a strange dilatation of time sets in, as if each second were taking on a new shape. Inspired by Einstein’s theory of relativity, the installation transforms the Grand‑Place into an immersive landscape where past, present, and future seem to overlap, respond to each other and sometimes merge.

Since 2013, Maxime Houot has created numerous sound and visual works presented on the international stage. Exploring the limits of his own perception, he develops a practice that is both handcrafted and conceptual.
Most of his creations are produced by the company Collectif Coin, with which he also enjoys experimenting by intersecting his work with that of artists from other disciplines, such as dance, music and live performance.
