Everyone has a say… about melting ice

A talk show presented by MUMONS as part of Mons en Lumières 2026

Melting ice is often discussed from scientific, economic or political perspectives. For Mons en Lumières 2026, MUMONS proposes another way to talk about it: through the sensitivities, emotions and personal viewpoints of members of the University of Mons from very different disciplines.

This talk show will be based on The Point of (No) Return by Anastasia Savinova, an installation presented along the festival route. Starting from this artwork, the speakers will share what melting ice evokes for them: a memory, a concern, an image, a sensation, a fragment of history, an unanswered question.
Here, there will be no lectures or demonstrations—just an open space for conversation, where each person brings their own way of feeling and understanding a phenomenon that affects us all.

Throughout the evening, the voices will resonate with one another—sometimes complementing each other, sometimes diverging. Together, they will offer a mosaic of perceptions that approaches the topic differently: less as an abstract problem and more as a human, tangible and shared reality.
