LE MONDE A L’ENVERS Dynamusée

Le Monde à l’Envers invites visitors to dive into a universe where reality is reinvented through the eyes of children. Designed by young artists from the Dynamusée extracurricular workshops, this playful and poetic installation challenges our perception of space and the elements around us.

Through ten suspended artistic spheres, the children explored the link between earth and sky, playing with notions of balance, inversion, and suspension. Each sphere tells a story inspired by artistic and heritage references from Mons:

  • The Inverted Belfries: a disorienting vision where heritage seems to defy gravity.
  • Birds in Flight: a tribute to freedom, inspired by the works of Picasso and Folon.
  • The Eyes: a forest of gazes turned towards the sky, a nod to surrealism.
  • Celestial Legs: inspired by Berlinde De Bruyckere’s sculptures, they fall from the sky to anchor themselves in the ground.
  • The Floating Chair: an homage to Marcel Mariën, evoking a world where furniture defies the laws of gravity.
  • Masks in the Clouds: a play on identity and imagination, inspired by Napoleon’s death mask preserved at the Museum of Fine Arts.

By blending materials, colors, and unexpected forms, Le Monde à l’Envers transforms Rue Notre Dame Débonnaire into a space for contemplation and free interpretation. A collective artwork where children’s creativity gives birth to a suspended landscape, between dream and reality.
