LE RÊVE DES LUCIOLES Par Romain Tardy (LDA Production)
“Le Rêve des Lucioles” is an artistic experience at the crossroads of light installation, immersive digital art, and performance. With the fictional character Lucie as its central figure, the audience is invited to share her dreams and her imaginary world through a poetic interplay of light, motion, and sound.
Drawing inspiration from the title of David Mesguish’s sculpture and the Japanese animated masterpiece Grave of the Fireflies by Isao Takahata, “Le Rêve des Lucioles” extends the spirit of these two works. It brings to life the character of a child standing in the middle of a luminous field, offering multiple and always poetic interpretations.
The approach to dreams in this work focuses on a specific stage of sleep: REM sleep. Although short, this phase is rich in sensations that can be incredibly diverse, infusing the logic and dynamics of “Le Rêve des Lucioles” with a profound and captivating energy.
The installation includes 100 motorized RGB LED modules, creating vertical, fluid light movements, enhanced by a lighting system of 18 motorized moving heads designed to withstand all weather conditions. LED tubes are strategically positioned on the trees of Square Roosevelt, adding an organic and interactive dimension to the piece. A LED screen, integrated into the structure and accompanied by a multi-channel sound system, amplifies the immersive experience, transforming the space into a poetic field of light.
The technical elements are designed for outdoor installation, featuring a wired DMX control for precise management of light and sound effects. The team ensures that the installation runs flawlessly each evening of the festival, with an integrated control system maintaining consistency and smooth transitions between visual and sonic elements. “Le Rêve des Lucioles” invites visitors to a contemplative pause and an immersion in a universe where light and sound merge to evoke the beauty and fragility of dreams.
