TREE HUT IN THE PARK Par Tadashi Kawamata et Mike Latona
The University of Mons (UMons) and MUMONS are partnering with the Festival des Lumières to illuminate Place du Parc.
Created by Tadashi Kawamata, Tree Hut in the Park transforms Place du Parc with a nest installed at the park’s entrance and four wooden huts suspended in the trees. By day, the artwork blends harmoniously into the landscape; by night, subtle lighting and an immersive soundtrack by Mike Latona create an enigmatic atmosphere in the heart of the city. The installation questions our connection to nature and highlights the fragility of the environment.
Beyond the contribution of guest artist Tadashi Kawamata, this collaboration explores the links between science, art, and the environment. Mike Latona’s light projections at the park’s crossroads, enriched by insights from university teams, provide a unique perspective on the theme “Between Earth and Sky”. This synergy between scientific knowledge and artistic creation symbolizes the commitment of UMONS and MUMONS to an innovative and poetic approach.
